Greetings CERA members and friends,

This year, I have chosen to take the Sensory committee on an in-depth look at food and beverage products most of us use on a regular basis.  This will include things like olive oil, vinegars, chocolate, coffee, and whatever else you would like to evaluate.  I will try to bring in experts in each field to do tastings that display indicators of quality, flaws, and differences in production technique or varietals/varieties.

Our first meeting will cover olive oil.  Nancy Lilly, a member of the California Olive Oil Council (http://www.cooc.com/index.html) will present different varietals and indicators of quality, styles and their most appropriate uses, and some demonstrations of flawed oils.

The meeting will be held at 3:30 on Tuesday, February 9, at Saintsbury Winery located at 1500 Los Carneros Ave., Napa, 94559.  Please note the physical location is not on Los Carneros, but rather on Withers Rd.

Directions to the winery from Napa: Head west on Hwy 12/121, turn left at Cuttings Warf Road just across from the Carneros Inn.  Go 0.3 miles and turn right on Withers Rd.  Saintsbury is located on the left—there is no sign but it’s the only winery on the road.

Please RSVP by next Friday, January 15 so that we can have enough oils for everyone to taste.

At the meeting you may also renew your membership and bring new members.  Please bring a bottle of wine to thank the host.

If you know others who would like to attend please pass this along.

Hope to see you all soon!

Kristy
