Arlene Boda, 3/1/64-7/21/09

I am very sorry to share this sad news.  Arlene Boda died on Tuesday.  Please share any stories or memories you have.  Arlene was very active in CERA, and I personally remember Arlene as an ever ebullient, happy person, always looking for any way to help.

2009 CERA Annual Meeting Report--Success!

Today's 2009 CERA Annual Meeting was a terrific success.  Thanks to all who came and participated.  We missed those of you who could not attend.  Below are notes on what you missed, and links to several items discussed at the meeting.

Kennedy/Jenks Presentation
Susanne Zechiel and Bob Chrobak presented on Winery & Vineyard Water Management.  The presentation cannot be attached here as it exceeds our storage limits.  Please contact me if you would like me to email you the pdf file, which is 1.1 MB.

Please help with new survey from PG&E and Kennedy/Jenks

CERA 2009 Harvest Research Project part 2--Viticulture

Post-doctoral researcher Mark Krasnow requests CERA's help with a crop-thinning trial.  The trial compares thinning at veraison with leaving the vines untouched.  Whether or not you thin in your vineyards, you can thin/not-thin 20 vines selected at random, can't you?

CERA 2009 Harvest Research Project part 1--Winemaking

Hey CERA,

Let's put the "R" back in CERA! UC-Davis professor Linda Bisson has asked for our help with a research project on native fermentations.  If you think you can participate, please let me know.  This project has relevance for all the committees, so let's get as much participation as we can.

I'll talk about this further at the annual meeting on July 10, too.  Feel free to ask any questions here, via email vp@cerawine.com or at the Annual Meeting.

Brand Lab Products - Posted for Matthew Shuplock

> My question is as follows....
Has anyone ever used "Brand" lab products? They recently displayed bottle top burets (non corrosive to iodine) and electronic repeating pipettors at the Managing the Winery Workshop. If so, can you please describe the product you use, and what you think of "Brand" equipment?

Thanks
